When reading Forgotten Realms I’m not looking for philosophy you know? If you’re expecting a lot of politicking and other “tedium” that can slow down other books, you may be disappointed.

The plot was fairly intriguing and engaging even if it did suffer from being a little too predictable. He’s a character everyone would want to be driszt. Their society is matriarchal and family ties only matter as long as one can bring something of value to the family, which is closer to the meaning of the way the Mafia interprets it. It is here that the story of this amazing dark elf truly began.

The group these books follow have many later books, which some people love, and I liked, but after about the 12th book I sort of got irritated by Drizzt and crew. Although having been an avid gamer for years and very familiar with Forgotten Realms, I haven’t ever actually read any of Salvatore’s books. But Alan, a college student pursuing a now-useless degree, cares little about all of this. This was actually the main point of attraction of the novel for me.
